I can reproduce part 1 of this bug. I've tried disabling all firefox extensions as well as disabling compiz/desktop effects and the tooltip bug persists.
Ubuntu 8.10 amd64 firefox 3.0.3+nobinonly-0ubuntu2 Steps to reproduce: * browse to any website * quickly drag the site icon (to the left of the http address) across the address field to the bookmarks toolbar, and hold the cursor here without releasing the button expected result: bookmark can be dropped into the bookmarks toolbar by releasing the mouse button actual result: quite often the tooltip that would appear when hovering over the site icon appears. The placement is such that it obscures the bookmark toolbar and often will not allow dropping of the bookmark in the desired place. The tooptip seems to appear somewhat erratically and occasionally shows the full site address in stead of the security info that normally appears. Both speed of dragging, and the actual dragging path seem to affect whether or not the tooltip appears, and what info it has. My bookmarks toolbar is full of bookmark folders, but this doesn't appear to affect whether or not the tooltip appears. Attaching a screenshot and marking confirmed. note: in these screenshots the cursor appearance is incorrect - it is actually the dragging hand link icon that you normally get. I had to use a timed screenshot to get it, as taking a screenshot via the printscreen button was not possible while dragging the link. This seems to have replaced the actual cursor with the default one in the screenshots... ** Attachment added: "screenshot" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19607657/Screenshot-1-crop.png ** Changed in: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- Tooltip at site icon in address bar prevents it from dragging to bookmarks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/286030 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
