I have a Gateway T1628 and intrepid AMD64 had everything running in excellent
shape, but when you upgrade the kernel 2.6.27-8, the wireless rtl8187b
excellent way in which he stops working, so when I connect to a pendrive any
USB port, it takes quite find it, looking at the list of load on the system,
which fails to meet not find the rtl8187b.
At the end I had to reinstall ubuntu as the new kernel I am not appeared in
grub, I had to make a charge of the new kernel and the problem continues, as it
is something that deconfigure change the USB and the kernel.
I forgot, use the proprietary drivers from ATI.

Tengo una Gateway T1628 y intrepid AMD64 tenia todo funcionando en forma
excelente, pero al actualizar al kernel 2.6.27-8, el wireless rtl8187b que
andaba en forma excelente deja de funcionar, tambien cuando conecto una
pendrive a algun puerto USB, tarda bastante en reconecerlo, fijandome en la
lista de carga del sistema, encuentro que da error al no encuentrar el rtl8187b.
Al final tuve que reinstalar ubuntu ya que el nuevo kernel no me aparecia en
grub, tuve que hacer que cargara el nuevo kernel y el problema sigue, es como
que cambio algo que desconfigura los USB y el kernel.
Me olvidaba, uso los drivers propietarios de ATI.
