Slightly lame workaround: Several users with this or a similarly presented error have been able to resolve it by changing the behavior of SATA devices in setup / BIOS. On a new Dell Vostro 200 desktop shipped from Dell in early November 2008, changing the setting for the SATA HD from IDE to RAID completely removed a long list of the repeating errors. Other BIOSes have options like PATA > SATA. Try a BIOS change if you encounter this kind of error.
