You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: dolphin
I installed Kubuntu-8.04-beta as a vmware-guest (NAT-Networking -> no specific search-domain by dhcp in resolv.conf) when browsing Network->Samba-shares with Dolphin i see my windows domain and also get our hosts listed when i open the domain. When i click one host (e.g. our windows-fileserver) dolphin tries to open "smb://hostname" but doesn't show any shares. Error message in bottom line: "No connection to host for smb://hostname/" (manually translated from german) When i change the path manually to "smb://hostname.domain.tld" it also lists the available shares and i can browse any shares after providing my login information as "domain\username" and the password. when i change my resolv.conf to "search domain.tld" the shares are listed correctly without the need for maual correction. by the way: Is there still a way, to set a standard domain\username for browsing samba-shares? I didn't find anything in "System Settings".
