I confirm that: * the bug appeared after a kernel update and nvidia driver installation * restarting hal removed the duplicate * udevadm trigger created the duplicate again.
Note also that I had both the wired and wireless card duplicated, but that each operation to remove or recreate the duplicate only workd on 1 duplicate at a time. I.e.
