The problem is that removing the package doesn't remove /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio, because it is listed as a conffile in the Debian package. If you want to remove Pulseaudio and be able to log in, you need to completely purge Pulseaudio from your system:
sudo apt-get remove --purge pulseaudio ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low Status: New => Triaged ** Summary changed: - Can't remove Pulseaudio correctly + Can't start session after removing pulseaudio (/etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pusleaudio remains) ** Summary changed: - Can't start session after removing pulseaudio (/etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pusleaudio remains) + Can't start session after removing pulseaudio (/etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio remains) -- Can't start session after removing pulseaudio (/etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio remains) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294541 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
