Ubuntu 8.10 has switched to Firefox 3.x now. This new generation does not need the PDF print queue any more. Choose "File"/"Print..." and in the list of printers "Print to File". Then choose "PDF" as the "Output format". You can freely choose the file name and the directory where to put the file.
Most other GTK/GNOME-based application allows to print into PDF the same way. In OpenOffice.org use "File"/"Export to PDF ...". In addition, generating PDF files in the user's home directory by CUPS is very awkward. CUPS' print job processing runs with the rights of a system user and therefore has no full access rights to user's home directories. This requires complex logistics to maintain security. Therefore we have dropped installing a PDF printer by default. ** Changed in: cups-pdf (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: system-config-printer => cups-pdf Status: New => Invalid -- Omission of Print to PDF https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/295132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
