I just rebooted the computer with the Samsung SH-S183A drive, and it gives me the same medium error with the same sectors. This computer has another Asus motherboard, althoug it's Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe, so it's entirely different. Yes, this happens on different cdr-media. I find it higly unlikely that both drives are defective and that 8 cd's fail.
The error is more or less like this: sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE,SUGGEST_OK sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] Sense Key : Medium Error [current] Info fld=0x0 sr 4:0:0:0: [sr0] Add.
