Ok Guys, to get the info you requested obviously I could not install from the distribution CD -- since this fails to detect my hard drive I cant get to a shell prompt.
So what I did is this: Installed a server from the Dapper 6.06 Alternative CD, then upgraded to Hardy, then upgraded to Intrepid -- 6.06 was able to detect my hard drive just fine and install.
