OK... I tried to install libwnck18-dbgsym with the repo you told me and I got the following: > sudo apt-get install libwnck18-dbgsym Reading package lists... Building dependency tree... Reading state information... Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that package should be filed. The following information may help resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libwnck18-dbgsym: Depends: libwnck18 (= 2.16.1-0ubuntu1) but 2.16.1-0ubuntu1.1 is to be installed E: Broken Packages ---- So I ran the backtrace without installing the debugging symbols first (See file attached). Then to fix the dependency error, I downgraded libwnck18 to 2.16.1-0ubuntu1 and tried to rerun the backtrace, but the panel wasn't crashing anymore!! Strange... For composite managers, I used to have beryl installed, but I removed it successfully a while ago, so I don't think it has anything to do with this bug. I don't have any other non-default settings and I use a single monitor (running on my laptop) Hope this helps ** Attachment added: "Backtrace of gnome-panel without debugging symbols and with libwnck18 2.16.1-0ubuntu1.1 installed" http://librarian.launchpad.net/5167207/CRASH-gdb-gnome-panel.txt -- Crash when I select "Always on Visible Workspace" https://launchpad.net/bugs/72804 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
