I'm having this problem several times a day since upgrading to 8.10 (all previous versions were OK).
I use focus-follows-mouse and two screens. Window manager is Ion 3. I mainly run Firefox, Evolution, xterm and Vim. The mouse moves and the keyword works fine (including changing focus), but clicking the mouse has no effect and the focus doesn't change as the mouse moves. Looks a lot like as if someone has a pointer grab. I have tried killing off X clients from an xterm, but nothing seems to help reliably. I can't switch to VT1 with 8.10 (it's just blank). Control usually returns eventually. Restarting the window manager works sometimes but not always.
