I can reproduce this.  However, I don't believe this is a bug.

mt-daapd needs access to this file by it's design, I'm not sure if you
changed the file on purpose or not,

but the default songs3.db should (and does on my system) have the following 
file permissions:
-rw-r--r--  1 mt-daapd nogroup 12288 2008-11-07 02:29 songs3.db

You can change it to this by navigating to the directory and then running:
sudo chown mt-daapd\: songs3.db
