I've been running the patched driver for 48 hours: The dd/klog cpu hogging hasn't appeared, the consoles remain unspammed by error messages, and no kernel panic. This bug usually appeared a few hours after booting, and turning off klogd only gave me a few hours more before a kernel panic. It felt like Windows 95. Now it looks stable again.
