Hi Sebastien, you are probably right. the Problem lies on the Nautilus side. I have the problem also with opening local folders containing thousands of jpg's and/or avi's. It's not a gvfs problem. Opening a local folder with this content takes also minutes to open and nautilus is using 90% of CPU while working.
P.S just checked with a notebook on 8.04, here the problem does not occour. chris On Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 10:22 PM, Sebastien Bacher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > the issue doesn't seem to be a gvfs ssh one, could you try to open a > such directory locally? > > -- > Nautilus is slow and CPU hungry over sftp > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292707 > You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber > of the bug. > > Status in "nautilus" source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete > > Bug description: > Binary package hint: nautilus > > Nautilus 2.24.1 is very slow and CPU hungy compared to version in 8.04. > Listing a directory with about 3000 files takes ~1 Minute.
