Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit
Version of gedit: 2.24.0-0ubuntu1 Version of Ubuntu: 8.10 What I do: gedit foo.txt & What happens: gedit window freezes (no updates, no painting) until I go back to the terminal window and bring the process to the foreground (with fg). What should happen: gedit should not freeze. Diagnosis: gedit outputs stuff to the standard output. Being backgrounded, this freezes the process, thereby freezing the window as well. Example of output: sys:1: GtkWarning: /build/buildd/gtk+2.0-2.14.4/gdk/x11/gdkproperty-x11.c:318 invalid X atom: 929 ** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gedit outputs stuff to stdout, prevents background from command line https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293589 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
