Hi, I'm experiencing the same problem with a brand new Thinkpad X200. It goes to sleep as one would expect. When reopening the lid the LEDs start blinking and after a while the standbay LED goes off (still as expected). Screen is dark but backlight and the mouse cursor is present but can't be moved. Restarting of the X-Server or anything else doesn't work. I have to hard reset and reboot to make it work again.
I can post more information about the laptop when needed. Just tell me what you need to know and how I can get this information. Any help is appreciated.
