Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xgamma

Under previous releases, issuing:
xgamma -gamma .45
would adjust the monitor's gamma and (with that example) make it darker than
default.
Since installing 8.10, this no longer works. xgamma appears to run as normal
and correctly reports new and old gamma settings, but no change is made to the
display.

** Affects: xgamma (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
