Happens for me as well but not only when I go to close the window. Simply clicking on the title bar of a window produces the same glitch. I have noticed a pattern as well. If i repeatedly click on the title bar, then the desktop background, it occurs on every 6th click on the window. Moving the mouse cursor repeatedly over the minimize, restore and close button on an active window also produces the glitch. Further it only occur with some of the themes. For instance the "glossy" theme does not trigger the glitch but the darkroom theme and the human themes all have the glitch. (I did not test them all)
My graphics card is a nVIDIA GeForce 7300Go and I am running the restricted drivers version 177. It is a fresh install and not a dist- upgrade. The problem did not appear in 8.04 on the same machine. I have not modified xorg.conf or anything like that. I have attached my lspci dump below.
