Hi,

I stumbled upon this bug with thinkfinger (fingerprint reader from
thinkpad) enabled in /etc/pam.d/common-auth:

auth    sufficient      pam_thinkfinger.so
auth    requisite       pam_unix.so try_first_pass nullok_secure
auth    optional        pam_smbpass.so migrate missingok

This was like it looked in hardy. After reenabling it in 8.10 the
"arrow-up" error occured.

After restoring the config, the error disappeared.

Since the fingerprint reader registers as "virtual keyboard" it could be
related somehow ...
