Public bug reported:

This machine has dapper-amd fully updated running fine. It works fine
with 2.6.15-23-amd64-generic #1 SMP PREEMPT, but does not boot with any
ubuntu 2.6.17 series. I've changed sources.list to edgy, updated
everything it told me to, and installed 2.6.17-2, 2.6.17-3, and 2.6.17-4

I then downloaded the linux-source-2.6.17-4 and did a dpkg-buildpackage
after changing the configs for CONFIG_SMP=n - it still panics.

What else can I provide to nail this down?
