Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xfree86-driver-synaptics

Hello,
I have xubuntu 8.10 running in my toshiba satellite m100 and currently mostly
every except the touchpad is working. no movement, no scrolling, no clicking.
So the USB mouse is my only choice.

xorg.conf is "default", and SHMconfig is enabled using HAL. gsynaptics
runs fine.

$ cat /etc/hal/fdi/policy/shmconfig.fdi
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<deviceinfo version="0.2">
 <device>
  <match key="input.x11_driver" string="synaptics">
   <merge key="input.x11_options.SHMConfig" type="string">true</merge>
  </match>
 </device>
</deviceinfo>

from `dmesg`:
