By the way I don't understand why this isn't a bug in gnome-panel: - with the same (buggy ?) configuration in .local/share/applications, gnome-panel had no problems in hardy, while it doesn't work in intrepid. - nautilus in intrepid no problem with the configuration in .local/share/applications, iirc the "places" sidebar was still working fine.
