Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic
This problem is new to Intrepid. When I uncheck "Enable Wireless" in
NetworkManager, or run ifconfig wlan0 down, my machine stops responding
for a whole 2 seconds, presumably because of some sloppy code running in
the kernel.
