Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop
A) Imagine that: You are sitting in some meeting, you are starting your
Ubuntu machine and - ALL OF THE SUDDEN THIRTY PEOPLE HEAR THE UBUNTU
GREETING SOUND, AND IT IS LOUD.

B) Next time you already know what might happen, but since there is no
one-click solution for starting Ubuntu in silent mode, you can only
repeat A) or else not start your machine.

Unless this is fixed, Ubuntu cannot be called a business grade OS. Just
my personal opinion.

** Affects: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
