I installed alpha 7 of KDE4, a daily iso of ubuntu the day before the release candidates came out, and xubuntu release candidate two days later. The exact same symptoms occurred with all three. I'm sorry to say I can't reproduce the requested reports from the earlier ones. The attached files are form the Xubuntu rlease candidate. Please note that I seem to have not trouble at all with networking or files transfers other than apt-get and synsptic. Even aptitude performs better.
