Public bug reported:

After booting up, I can either shut the lid of my laptop or click System
-> Quit -> Suspend and my computer will go to sleep. This causes the
screen to blank, the fan (and maybe other things) to shut off and the
power LED to breath orange (normally it's blue). I get many hours of
battery life this way.

Once I life the lid or press the power button the computer will resume
operating normally and ask my to unlock my screen.

If I then try to either close my lid or click Quick -> Suspend, the
screen will blank but the computer appears to run normally. The blue LED
stays lit as normal, the fan continues to run. The battery life is not
significantly increased and the computer stays warm to the touch. I'm
not even sure if the backlight on the screen turns off, or if the screen
simply goes black. If I wiggle the mouse (or touch the touch pad) my
computer screen will come to life and ask me for my password.

I can repeat these steps again and again and the result, after the first
(successful) suspend, is always the same - the computer does not
actually sleep. Shutting down and starting the computer back up allows
it to sleep again, once more.

I am running a Toshiba Satelite A105 laptop with an uptodate edgy. I've
tested to see if the result is affected by running network applications
(its not) or additional hardware such as an external mouse or webcam
(it's not).

I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this, tell me what you need and I'll
give any additional information that will be helpful. I'm including
lspci and lshal -m. This problem is easily repeatable so am happy and
able to get more details at a moment's notice.
