** Description changed:

  Hi.

  I'm trying to test 8.10-rc1 .

I am trying to install from hardrive install via iso - i.e

  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromLinux
  -Alt CD- Procedure 2

I've used ths initrd and vmlinuz from
http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/intrepid/main/installer-i386/current/images/hd-media/
  - This method has worked fine previous when installing 7.10 and 8.04 on this
machine.

It gets to partition part in the installer but cannot see any
  partitions.

+ I should point out that it does locate the .iso and successfully
+ completes keyboard and network first. (i.e the installer must know the
+ existence of my drive /dev/sda however offers no partitions to edit on
+ the partitioning screen )
+
  Any ideas ?
