Public bug reported: Sound issues started after Intrepid upgrade. I use digital out on my dock station. My /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base file contains additional "options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-660-digout position_fix=1" line. It enables my IEC958 out. Since intrepid gnome-volume-control has additional IEC968 Default PCM which I've also enabled.
Typical scenarios a) 1. Launching Rhythmbox and playing Internet radio 2. Launching Tremulous game. After ~30 min sound fails with snipper sound effect, and Tremulous logs "sound dropping". Finally everything def. b) Closing laptop's lid. I spotted only one implication. The gnome-volume-control misses some audio devices (after), while gnome-sound-properties contains all of them. When default (detect automatically) enabled - sound plays only from built-in speakers. If I change device to my HDA Intel ALC-660VD Digital (ALSA) and test it - sound keeps playing. If I play an aplay wav file or Totem etc. it also plays well. I thought that it is a system wide issue including pulseaudio, alsa, gstreamer and drivers. However I did notice that when I restart gdm session everything comes back to normal. =======INFO======= Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 Linux kebe-laptop 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Wed Oct 22 01:30:40 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux =======END======= ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: alsa digital gstreamer out sound -- [intrepid] Sound dropping (ICH8 Digital out) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288288 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
