I've also encountered a lockup when selecting a screen saver on Ubuntu 8.04. The mouse still moves around but I cannot click on anything. I am unable to switch to a VT or kill X via CTRL+ALT+Backspace but I can ssh in.
When the machine is frozen, I can ssh into it from another computer and top reports that the compiz.real and Xorg processes are occupying almost 100% of my CPUs. The braid process is also using a small amount. Killing the Xorg process dumps me back to the gdm login screen and all is well again. Selecting braid or xrayswarm seem to consistently lock up the application for me. I am using the nvidia driver. -- computer locks up when I select screen saver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/256785 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
