I did reproduce it more than twice in the short period I was trying Xubuntu 8.04.1 (I then went to Ubuntu 8.04.1 and then to openSUSE 11, but I am going back to Ubuntu 8.10 as soon as it arrives.. because rpm it's clearly behind than deb, not matter that they seem not to be aware of -or willing to accept- it).
Regarding this bug in Xubuntu, it did not happen all the times.
