** Description changed:

  Short version:

+ I tried 8.10-beta/amd64 on Acer Aspire 6530G-804G32Mn This laptop has
AMD TurionX2 Ultra DualCore ZM80, ATi M780G chipset PUMA Platform, 4GB
RAM, ATi Radeon HD3650-512MB and 1366x768 display. The 8.04/amd64 (a)
doesn't include support for its Attansic L1 ethernet card and (b) didn't
correctly determine the screen resolution during installation process,
  resulting in a flickering image.

The 8.10-beta/amd64 live-cd booted 3-4 times longer than 8.04 one. Just
before the start of GNOME session, an eerie white light started to crawl
from all corners of the screen towards center, with strange hieroglyphic
artifacts appearing from behind the light. The scene wasn't very
pleasant to see, however, after 2-3 repetitions of that process, the
installer eventually chose the right resolution (1366x768) and the image
  looked stable and good.

  I created a ~150G sda5(ext3) and 8G sda6(swap) inside the extended
partition (with sda1&2(ntfs) and sda3(ext3) before it). When
installation finished, I was able to mount sda5 from the live-cd session
and I collected /var/log. However, after reboot to the new live-cd
session, the installer reported that sda4 is "unknown file system", so
that the whole newly installed system was inaccessible.

When I tried the safe graphics mode on the live-cd, the boot hanged at
  powernowd startup.

I repeated the whole process twice, with the same result. I attached a
tar containig /var/log of the installed system collected from the live-
cd session while it was accessible, and several
logs/outputs/configuration files created by the installer as well.

  Thanks.
