Public bug reported:

In a Asus A7N8X-XE with nVidia nForce2 chipsets, there is a onboard
sound adapter nForce2 based (Nvidia CK8 Alsa mixer) with a codec C-Media
CMI9761 (OSS mixer). The sound's output is ALSA, but the PCM mixer is
the master, and Master mixer function as a "Capture Interface mixer",
and not as the Master. The PCM mixer act as master and control the
volume levels of the adapter. This problem make a "Volume and Mute Keys"
in multimedia keyboards disabled, because that Ubuntu hotkeys in Gnome
is setup for work ONLY with Master mixer, and not with the PCM mixer.
