No, the movie is a commercial DVD that I own and I'm trying to rip. Oddly, it only seems to be this movie. If I use gst-launch0.10 with another movie (say, Snatch) it works just fine.
I am able to rip The Patriot using VLC, but not gst-launch0.10. So this bug's priority can be set to low since I have a work-around. It's still interesting as to why it breaks on some DVDs and not others. Thanks for all your help.
