Same bug seems to occur for me;
Intel laptop 64bit single core: Acer Extensa 5220 gfx: X3100 (GM965/GL960)
I can suspend to memory, but when it is waking, all seems ok - yet the monitor
is black and keyboard does not react.
On ubuntu 8.10 up to date (2008-10-18 15:00 gtm+2)
Hibernation works fine except sound bug#254312
