Excuse for English, is Italian. I would want to make a multiboot. In mine
hardisk there is partition C: , where I have installed windows xp. In an
other partition I wanted to put ubuntu. The partition of ubuntu is
subdivided in swap and \ root respecting the minimal measures. At last
Ubuntu puts automatically grub in (hd0) and begins after the installation.
They are a beginner, like I can install GRUB where I want I, like you have
made you? Thanks for the aid

Good to have that info, but what I meant was what partition were you
trying to install too? Was it an ATA drive partition (hda etc) or and
S-ATA drive partition (sda etc)?

On my laptop which is S-ATA only I got grub to install where I told it,
but not on my mixed system.
