I'm on a Sony Vaio VGN-FE31H laptop. When updated packages require a
reboot, the quiet-splash status bar freezes about three and a half
blocks full. The only way to recover is to hard reset, after which
Ubuntu boots normally with no more problems until the next update /
reboot cycle.
