Public bug reported: Hi,
I've a brand new Acer 2930 (laptop) with Intel Graphic Media 4500MHD. At first I installed ubuntu stable (8.04) and had no problem with display (but no sound and no wifi). I updated to devel version (ubuntu 8.10-beta) and now wifi and sound are ok, but display does not work unless if I boot under recovery mode and run xfix. Each time I start my computer without doing this (ie. in normal boot), I end up with a black screen. what I expect: "boot normally and be able to log into ubuntu using login screen (gdm?)" what occurs: "boot appears to be normal, but in the end, login screen is not displayed and screen stays black (I need to reboot under recovery mode, run xfix and resume to normal boot to have ubuntu work properly)" In case you need it, here is some output from lspci: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07) Let me know if you require more information, it would be so great to fix this before 8.10 becomes stable.
