It could be, if po/POTFILES.in included the desktop file. This is a very
exposed part of the system, leaving it unavailable for translation would
be irresponsible. I don't have time to provide a patch today, but it's
really simple. Add the .desktop.in file to POTFILES.in and modify the
generic English entries, so they have an underscore sign in front of
them like this:

_Name=Rhythmbox Music Player
_Comment=Play and organize your music collection

This will not make the .desktop file validate, but it worked with bluez-
gnome and the strings were picked up by the .pot file.
