Oh-kay now. When my problem popped up, I was unable to update, upgrade, or anything of the sort. Adept and synaptic both failed to start, and apt-get commands terminated with errors. Errors included the phrase The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
I did a search on that phrase, and found several pages. Almost all of those that I opened referred to a cache limit. Rather than adjust the cache limit, I just edited my /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/30cache with a comment (#) in front of the single line found there. Adept is now updating for me. It seems pretty obvious that my system COULD BE overwhelmed by the monster cache from hell - but the likelihood of that happening seems pretty slim. ;) If I run into problems, I will come back to report that my unsupported fix didnt work so well......... -- Too many repositories "dynamic mmap ran out of room" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/24626 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
