You have been subscribed to a public bug by Jamie Strandboge (jdstrand): Binary package hint: network-manager
Hardy Heron 8.04 - latest updates of Linux Kernel and all other packages excepting OO files. After setting nm-applet 0.6.6 for the two static IP numbers provided by my ISP and also setting the dial-up numbers in both the Network Manager and in pppconfig I still get a redirect to another IP set. This IP set belongs to another provider and not my own. Best guess is the discovery functions in NM are moving to the stronger signal instead of the static set. I've tried editing the resolv.conf and deleting the copy. Even tried loggin with just pon but still get the same lousy transfer to another ISP's two IP numbers. I had a similar issue in Gutsy and had to remove the Network Manager, avahi and some other dhcp related files. I was going to remove some of the same files as it seemed to solve the problem somewhat before but the dependencies are more involved this time around and I'd lose my internet dial up access and a load of other files. Using a dialup modem USR 5610B ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hardy network Manager ignores Static IP settings and overrides picking up strongest signal on Dial up phone line. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/276102 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
