I have also had freezing of the system lately. The only way out is to turn the computer off and start over. I am using Hardy and have been updating the system immediately there are new updates. The freezing does not seem to be related to any particular process or program as I have had it freeze while using Thunderbird, browsing the net with Firefox, using Amsn, viewing files on the hard drive,and playing Aisle riot to name some.
