please give us back displayconfig-gtk.  I do not have any desire to have
to manually edit the xorg.conf file.

If not displayconfig-gtk then some form of gui for selecting a graphics
card, monitor, resolution, etc.  The simple reality is that no matter
how good hardware detection is on a PC there will *ALWAYS* be hardware
that isn't detected.  Thus a tool such as displayconfig-gtk quickly
fixes problems like this one.
