I have the same problems when CPU usage is always 85-95% when nothing is
running. Except the gnome-system-monitor. So I found out that it was
gnome-system-monitor that caused such high CPU usage in Xorg. I used the
command <code> top <code> in terminal while observing the system. As
soon as I start gnome-system-monitor, Xorg usage spikes from 0.7% to 48%
and drop back down when I close the application. Sooo, I don't know if
it's true for everyone, but now I stopped monitoring my CPU usage all
the time with gnome-system-monitor since its the beast behind all of
this.
