Yes, please read the rationale for this in the following Debian bug: * Recommend the three introduction campaigns from the wesnoth package and add informations about it to the package description (closes: #471912) <http://bugs.debian.org/471912> > It is my suggestion to do one of the following change. > 1. Remove all recommendations to reduce download size on first install. That won't happen. You can always remove recommendations from your system, after all they are no depends. If it still isn't possible to remove recommends in Ubuntu, pretty please fix the package manager after years of knowing about that bug. :/ > 2. If we must keep recommendation then it is better to keep one with > smalled download size, wesnoth-ttb. There is another one slightly > smaller than it, wesnoth-aoi. But I haven't played wesnoth-aoi so can > not comment about it. wesnoth-aoi can't really be considered a real introduction campaign. Please notice that while playing Heir To The Throne you still get quite some introduction explenations, so it's not a good idea to replace with with any other campaign that is "just smaller". Size alone doesn't really matter here, the introduction benefit is much more important. * Onkar Shinde <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [2008-10-11 21:46:32 CEST]: > You understood it wrong. I was talking about recommendations by > 'wesnoth' package and not 'wesnoth-all' package. As far as I understand > it, 'wesnoth' should give you bare minimum playable game and that is the > reason I thought keeping one campaign was sufficient. The decision to include the three of them was done with discussions of upstream developers about what makes sense. All three of them are considered introduction campaigns so it makes sense to have them. On the other hand, they are Recommends, not Depends, so you are always free to remove them if you don't want/like them. One more thing I like to bring along and mention: <http://bugs.debian.org/500935> - wesnoth-all will be renamed to wesnoth to reduce confusion of users installing wesnoth and ending up with only the tree campaigns searching around for others, and current wesnoth package will be renamed to wesnoth-core. Along that line I might be willing to think about dropping the recommendations of the three introduction campaigns from wesnoth-core, though still, they are recommends and not depends and because of that can get easily removed without any problem. So long. :) Rhonda -- Remove campaign recommendations https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/281784 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
