Have you checked your /etc/fstab and compared to what exists under /dev ? I remember I had the same problem while upgrading some time ago. The name scheme for disk changed and I just had to update my /etc/fstab. For your kernel problem, I have no clue :) Maybe more details would be useful. Good Luck.
