linux-image-generic: 2.6.24-19.41
xserver-xorg: 1:7.3+10ubuntu10.2
nvidia-glx-new-envy: 173.14.12 (reproducible with 169.12 as well)

Hardware: GeForce 6600GT (no overheating)

3D intensive applications, compiz, overlayed video playback almost
always freeze in a few seconds. Desktop also freezes during normal work
once in a few hours. Image on screen is sometimes corrupted. I can move
mouse cursor during first seconds of freeze, then it stops responding
completely. However, applications continue background work. Desktop
usually unlocks after 10-30 seconds, and "jumps" to the updated state.
At this moment all mouse events etc are delivered to programs, so I have
the opportunity to close the application that caused problem before it
immediately freezes again.

Xorg.log is full of:
mieqEnequeue: out-of-order valuator event; dropping.
tossed event which came in late

ending with:
(II) NVIDIA(0): Initialized GPU GART.

No messages in dmesg and syslog.
