This behaviour is happening again to me: start the computer, do nothing but wait, screensaver activates, wait and screen gets blank, move the mouse or press a key, desktop comes back (OK so far - you can do some activities, I ran Firefox but that's certainly not the cause) and: - wait again, when the screensaver should activate again screen gets blank instead. OR - press Ctrl-Alt-L: screensaver should activate again but screen gets blank instead.
