Ah, I know what's going on, thanks for the log. You have a Broadcom ethernet card (ssb:v4243id0806rev07, using the kernel module b44) as well as a Broadcom wifi card (v4243id0807rev03, I suspect). The latter would actually be covered by the new "wl" driver, but this does not work together with the SSB driver. Thus enabling "wl" would break your b44 ethernet card, which is why the handler in Jockey auto-destructs itself in that case:
2008-10-07 20:12:34,457 DEBUG: Could not instantiate Handler subclass __builtin__.BroadcomWLHandler from name BroadcomWLHandler SystemError: BroadcomWLHandler: would break b44, disabling myself It seems that compared to hardy, the b43 driver now does not cover your card any more. Reassigning to the kernel, since I'm afraid my knowledge ends here. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: jockey => linux Status: Incomplete => Triaged ** Summary changed: - Intrepid Beta: Hardware driver for Broadcom Wireless no longer available + Intrepid regression: b43 does not support Broadcom wifi card any more -- Intrepid regression: b43 does not support Broadcom wifi card any more https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279389 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
