If I'm understanding the testing correctly, these configurations were tested:
Intrepid a4 (-nv 2.1.10-1ubuntu1, xserver 1.4.99.906-1ubuntu2) - Works properly Intrepid a5 (-nv 2.1.10-1ubuntu1, xserver 1.4.99.906-2ubuntu5) - Shows the issue Intrepid a6 (-nv 2.1.10-1ubuntu2, xserver 1.5.0-1ubuntu1) - Shows the issue Between alpha 4 and alpha 5, we had the same upstream versions for the driver and server. -nv -1ubuntu2 was just a rebuild against the new server. Between alpha 4 and 5 we had the same upstream xserver; the change was a number of patches added, however they were largely to do with input-hotplug or other things that don't seem to be things that could cause this bug. It might be worth re-testing the xserver without the patches anyway. ** Description changed: + I'm forwarding this bug from a Ubuntu reporter: + https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nv/+bug/268853 + + Problem: + The X screen is garbled during startup before the login dialog is displayed; doing a vt switch clears the corruption and restores proper functionality. + + Photo: + http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17530291/cimg1342.jpg + + lspci: + PCI:*([EMAIL PROTECTED]:0:0) nVidia Corporation G72 [GeForce 7300 SE] + 00:01.0 0604: 8086:29a1 (rev 02) + + Tested: + Intrepid a4 (-nv 2.1.10-1ubuntu1, xserver 1.4.99.906-1ubuntu2) - Works properly + Intrepid a5 (-nv 2.1.10-1ubuntu1, xserver 1.4.99.906-2ubuntu5) - Shows the issue + Intrepid a6 (-nv 2.1.10-1ubuntu2, xserver 1.5.0-1ubuntu1) - Shows the issue + + + Original Report: + + Add tag: crash bitesize packaging backport likely-dup needs-testing + triage-mentoring-available + This issue is new to Kubuntu Intrepid Alpha 5, i.e., everything still worked correctly with Alpha 4.
