Public bug reported: System>Preferences>Screen Resolution shows two displays, with extended desktop, but right monitor (DVI-0) remains black.
This is xserver-xorg-video-radeon 6.9.0+git20080826.a3cc1d7a-2ubuntu3 from Intrepid Ibex beta on x86_64: a Dell Optiplex 755 with a Radeon HD 2400 XT; X is using the "radeon" driver. I have two identical Dell 20" LCD monitors. During boot, both work. I have had some success with the proprietary driver in an earlier release of Ubuntu but there was no RandR support. If I use xrandr to turn off that output and then --auto to re-enable it, I can just make out the backlight of the monitor turning off and on. The gdm desktop resizes as expected (3200x1200 -> 1600x1200). (You have to excuse if there are any typos, I am typing this in as the e1000e driver is disabled). # xrandr --verbose -q Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3200 x 1200, maximum 3200 x 1600 DVI-1 connected 1600x1200+0+0 (0x3d) normal (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 367mm x 275mm Idnetifier: 0x3b Timestamp: 26156 Subpixel: horizontal rgb Clones: DVI-0 CRTC: 0 CRTCs: ) !
